Best of 2011-Review

It has been anything but quiet in Kaş this year. August was one of the busiest months for visitors ever; during one week all pensions, hotels and villas were full! It also rained two days in August, something quite unusual! Temperatures have been mild along with five days of rain in November.http://infolio-rg.ru

On a somber note, the Kaş Mayor’s office cancelled all official festivities for Republic Day in memory of a large combat loss of Turkish soldiers and the two earthquakes in Van.

This year the Kaş Marina finished construction and is now open for business and under “full sail” operation. The construction of the new 50 bed hospital is progressing nicely and final construction should be in early 2012.

The first ever Irish Film Festival in Turkey came to Kaş on November 11 for three days and brought several prominent Irish film makers and actors to Kaş town.

Our quintessential expat, Alex Smith, has become a regular monthly contributor and his are frequently the most popular and widely read of the English language articles.

We updated our website in June 2011 which also hosts our frequent articles about Turkey, the Lycian Coast and Kaş. Our new website will eventually make our BT Blogger obsolete but we will leave it up for archived artices that you may find of interest. Our Facebook sites for both Bougainville Travel and Bougainville Diving have been quite active and growing in both “likes” and comments. We now have over 1,700 newsletter subscribers and requests have been steadily increasing, thanks to all of you. Please continue to pass the word and remind your friends to subscribe. We also continue to update our Google Map Series for Accommodations and various Adventure Activities such as Scuba Diving, Canyoning and Trekking Sites.
